Sweden Trip Sept 12-19, 2015
During September 12 – 19, we had the privilege of having 41 American delegates, mostly from the Rockford area, visiting us in Lidköping, Skaraborg and Sweden. The trip was led by SwedishAmerican Foundation. Trip was put together by Lindstrom Travel in Rockford and Nybergs Buss in Lidköping, with support and planning work done by International Business Developer, Linnea Bengtsson. Tour Guides were Camilla Andersson from Destination Läckö-Kinnekulle Tourism Office and Karin Björling. The trip is a great result of the Industrial Partnership Agreement in place between Lidköping & Skaraborg and Rockford, Midwest. The focus on the trip was health care, sustainability, innovation and heritage. The route was: Stockholm – Lidköping – Skara – Skövde – Kvänum – Kungälv – Smögen – Gothenburg – Varberg and Copenhagen. Here are pics from the trip. Monday: Arriving in Lidköping, guided tour of the famous Rörstrand Porcelain Museum. Dinner with Lidköping Officials and Mr. Nicholas Kuchova, Senior Commercial Officer from the U.S. Embassy.
Tuesday: Group 1: Visit at Skaraborg´s Hospital in Lidköping and Lidköping´s Central Heat Plant. Group 2: Kinnekulle mountain. Luncheon and guided tour of De la Gardiegymnasiet. Visit at Skogsgläntan Senior Home/Assistant Living, Guided Tour of Läckö Castle and Dinner at Crown Princess Victoria´s Nature room.
Wednesday: Group 1: Lidköping´s Success Examples: Eva Niklasson, Health Developer; Yvonne Träff, International Strategist; Dr. Jesper Poucette, MD and Home Doctor. Group 2: Shopping. Skara Cathedral, greeted by Skara Church Minister Carl Sjögren and Skara´s Economic Development Director Anna Sundbom. Luncheon at University of Skövde. Group 1: Skaraborg´s Hospital in Skövde. Group 2: Varnhem Cloister. Business Mingle with locals and presentations by Brodit AB & Proclip USA, Dr. William Gorski, Chet Kolodziej and Linnea Bengtsson. Dinner and overnight in Kvänum.
Thursday: Leaving the County of Skaraborg for lunch in Kungälv, meeting with Linnea´s uncle, Dr. Ingemar Olsson, who was in Rockford in 2013 and met with Dr. Gorski then. Boat Tour on the West Coast in Smögen, together with De la Gardiegymnasiet´s Construction teacher Picke Johansson and his wife Annika. Dinner and over night in Smögen.
Friday: Leaving Smögen for lunch and guided tour in Gothenburg. Fika stop in Varberg, greeted by Culture and Leisure Director, Christina Josefsson. Öresundsbron/bridge over to Copenhagen, Nyhavn.
